  • What do I need to use FAX.IR services?
    All you need is an internet access and a FAX.IR user account. There is NO need for a fax machine, phone line, software or hardware installation.
  • Will I lose my fax number if I don't extend my subscription?
    If your paid subscription expires and it is not extended within 1 month (for individual account-random number), 3 months (for individual account- selective or golden number) or 2 weeks (for corporate account) after the expiration, your number will be allocated in our list of free numbers for allocation. (meaning it might be allocated to another user). Individual account will be automatically changed to free accounts once their number has been released.
  • Can I divert my previous fax number or my mobile number to my FAX.IR account?
    Yes. For detailed instructions on how to divert, you need to call your local telecommunication company.
  • I don't have too many faxes to send. Do I have to choose basic or premium plans?
    You may choose the free subscription plan, in which you have 10 free pages per month to send (no receiving in this plan) and you may purchase extra credits for over-usage.
  • Can I send faxes via my iPhone or iPad?
    Yes. You may download the FAX.IR APP, login your FAX.IR account, take pictures from your camera or choose from your photo album and send to any fax destination you wish. The FAX.IR app is compatible with iOS and Android devices.

  • Will I be able to receive faxes once my internet is disconnected?
    Yes. You will be able to receive faxes 24X7. However you will need an internet connection to check your email or FAX.IR inbox.
  • How can one using a legacy fax machine send faxes to my internet fax account?
    The same way as they would send a fax to a legacy machine.
    If dialing from Tehran they only dial your fax number. i.e.: 89780000
    If dialing from outside Tehran (within Iran) they first dial the code for Tehran (021) and then your fax number. i.e.: 02189780000
    If dialing from abroad (outside Iran) first the code for Iran (0098) second the code for Tehran (21) and then your fax number. i.e.: 00982189780000
  • How can I send a fax?
    Login to your FAX.IR account and choose send fax from the menu on the side. Enter your destination number(s) and attach files or write the text you wish to fax.
  • How can I receive faxes?
    You really don't need to do anything to receive faxes. FAX.IR will take care of everything for you. Once a fax is received we will notify you via SMS and send that fax to your email and archive it for you if you wish.
  • Does my computer have to be turned on to receive faxes?
    No.
  • What is the maximum file size I can upload when sending a fax?
    You can upload up to 5 MB for one fax.
  • What file formats does FAX.IR support for uploading when sending a fax?
    DOCX, DOC, TXT, TIFF, PDF, XLS, XLSX, JPG
  • Is my FAX.IR service secure?
    Yes. We follow generally accepted standards such as ISMS-ISO 27001 to maintain confidentiality and protection of your information.
  • Can I view my account status in FAX.IR?
    Yes. Just login to your account and choose My Account from the menu.
  • Can I use my FAX.IR from abroad (outside Iran)?
    Yes
  • What happens once I use all my send/receive credit in one month?
    You need to purchase extra credits.
  • What happens if the fax machine at the destination I'm sending a fax to is switched off?
    You will receive a notification stating failure to send along with the reason of the failure via SMS and email. However you may enable the retry mode in the case of failure. For more info please visit Sending Help
  • How can I change my Mobile number in FAX.IR?
    Login to your FAX.IR account and go to settings. You can edit all your information from there.
  • Will I be charged for failed sent faxes?
    For each outbound transmission, the number of pages sent is calculated based on the greater of the actual number of pages or the number of full and partial 60-second increments of transmission or connection time, whether or not the transmission occurs or is completed (such as instances when someone answers the call or transmission is interrupted before completion). However if no one answers the call no page will be charged.
  • What happens when I divert my previous fax number to my new FAX.IR?
    You will receive all faxes sent to your previous number in your FAX.IR account.
  • If my monthly free pages are all used up, do I have to wait 'till the end of the month to be able to send/receive faxes?
    No. You can buy extra credits
  • Can I fax pages in sizes bigger or smaller then Letter or A4?
    Yes. However most faxes send and receive faxes in the standard size of A4.
  • Can I fax documents to numbers that have extensions?

  • How should people abroad (outside Iran) dial my FAX.IR number?
    If dialing from abroad (outside Iran) first the code for Iran (0098) second the code for Tehran (21) and then your fax number. i.e.: 00982189780000
  • Can I fax one document to multiple destinations?
    Yes. You can fax one document to up to 500 destinations.
  • How long will it take for my number to be activated after signup?
    Your number will be activated immediately after signup.
  • People get a busy tone once they dial my FAX.IR number, what is the problem?
    This is caused once your extra credit and free pages are all consumed. You can fix this buy purchasing extra credit or extending your registration. Detailed information about your account status and help on what you need to purchase is available in "My Account" after you login.
  • I can not receive faxes sent from outside Tehran.
    Your fax number is based in Tehran and therefore:
    If dialing from outside Tehran (within Iran) they should first dial the code for Tehran (021) and then your fax number. i.e.: 02189780000
    If dialing from abroad (outside Iran) first the code for Iran (0098) second the code for Tehran (21) and then your fax number. i.e.: 00982189780000
  • I have forgotten my password. Am I able to retrieve it?
    Yes. Go to login.fax.ir and choose the Forgot Password option
  • Can I choose my FAX.IR number?
    Yes. If you wish you may choose your last 4 digits from the list of available numbers, however extra charges may apply.
  • Will my free pages of one month be transferred to the next?
    No. Unused inbound or outbound Services credits are valid in the month issued and expire at the conclusion of each applicable one month period.
  • Is the extra credit purchased transferable to the next month or does it expire at the conclusion of each applicable one month period?
    Yes. Extra credits will remain with you during the entire time you hold your paid FAX.IR account.
  • What is the difference between a random and a selective/golden number?
    In terms of functionality there is no difference. However a random number is when we allocate a fax number to you, and a selective/golden number is when you get to choose the last 4 digits of your fax number.
  • Can I view the breakdown on the cost of each fax send/received?
    Yes. Just login to your account and go to archive. Click on the cost of the fax you wish to see and the breakdown will appear beneath.
  • Why am I sometimes charged more than one page for a one page fax?
    Most fax pages take less than sixty (60) seconds to transmit. However, for each outbound transmission, the number of pages sent is calculated based on the greater of the actual number of pages or the number of full and partial 60-second increments of transmission or connection time, whether or not the transmission occurs or is completed (such as instances when someone answers the call or transmission is interrupted before completion). For example, a one page fax with a transmission duration of 30 seconds is recognized as one page and a one page fax with a transmission duration of one minute and six seconds is recognized as two pages. Also the rates (number of pages calculated) varies depending on your destination. You can see the detailed cost for each destination in Send Rates
    You will also be charged one extra page for each SMS delivery report.
  • I sometimes get an E or U Error while trying to send a fax. What does this mean?
    List of errors:
    U000 Unable to read or convert the file contents
    E100 Failure to receive silence (synchronization failure)
    E103 RSPREC error/got DCN (sender abort)
    E124 COMREC error in transmit Phase B/got DCN
    E125 COMREC invalid command received/no DIS or DTC
    E126 No receiver protocol (T.30 T1 timeout)
    E128 Remote fax disconnected prematurely
    E129 Procedure interrupt (operator intervention)
    E132 Unable to transmit page (NAK at all possible signalling rates)
    E133 Unable to transmit page (NAK with operator intervention)
    E134 Fax protocol error (unknown frame received)
    E136 DIS/DTC received 3 times; DCS not recognized
    E137 Failure to train remote modem at 2400 bps or minimum speed
    E139 No response to RR repeated 3 times
    E140 COMREC invalid response received to RR
    E141 No response to CTC repeated 3 times
    E143 Failure to transmit clean ECM image data
    E146 COMREC invalid response received to PPS
    E147 No response to PPS repeated 3 times.
    E149 Unspecified Transmit Phase C error
    E150 No response to MPS repeated 3 tries

  • What is the difference between subscription extension and extra credit?
    With every month of subscription you get a specific number of free pages, however if you wish to send/receive faxes more than that you would need extra credits.
  • What is the spam folder?
    Our intelligent algorithm identifies spam marketing faxes targeted to FAX.IR users and we will charge you no fee for such faxes. However in the case of misidentification, these faxes can be viewed in your SPAM folder.
